The Fabulous Greaseband will perform at Centennial Park Sunday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Borough of Wildwood Crest’s annual Summer Kickoff Concert.

One of the longest-running and most popular bands in the Delaware Valley, the seven-member Fabulous Greaseband bills itself as a “Best of the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s Rock ‘n’ Roll Party Band.” This entertaining, high-energy band, which has been going strong for more than three decades, delivers some of the greatest dance and party songs ever written by some of the most popular artists of all time. The Greaseband performs regularly all along the East Coast, particularly throughout the Delaware Valley, with well over 200 appearances annually. The band is among the most popular entertainers to perform at Centennial Park each year.

The Summer Kickoff Concert is a FREE all-ages show. Attendees should bring a blanket or a chair. Centennial Park is located at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue.

The weekly Wildwood Crest Summer Music Series will begin in late June. Centennial Park will feature live music shows each Wednesday and Saturday from June 26 through Labor Day weekend. The full schedule is available on the events page on this web site.

Beginning May 25, outdoor Zumba classes will be held every Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Centennial Park, located at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue. Saturday Zumba classes will be held through Sept. 28.

A special holiday weekend Zumba class will also be held on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27) at 8:30 a.m.

Additional Zumba classes will be held at Centennial Park at 8:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from June 17 through Aug. 29.

The Wildwood Crest Recreation Department will also again offer its comprehensive Beach Pier Fitness Classes program on the Beach Pier at Heather Road at 8:30 a.m. daily from June 29 through Aug. 24. Classes include aerobics, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing and more.

Cost for each summer outdoor fitness class is $5 per person. A punch card good for any 12 classes can be purchased for $50.

Additional FREE sunset yoga classes will also be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings along Sunset Lake at Miami Road at 7:30 p.m. from July 9 through Aug. 15.

All Wildwood Crest summer fitness classes are directed by certified, experienced and energetic instructors.

The event will feature nearly 200 yard sale locations throughout the borough.

Those wishing to become an official yard sale location must submit a registration form by Friday, April 26 to Wildwood Crest Borough Hall. The fee to participate is $15.

Maps featuring yard sale locations will be available beginning Wednesday, May 2 at the following locations: Wildwood Crest Borough Hall, 6101 Pacific Avenue; Crest Pier Recreation Center, 5800 Ocean Avenue; Joseph Von Savage Memorial Pool, 8800 New Jersey Avenue; and many local businesses.

Rain date for the event is Sunday, May 5.

Session I – Thursday, June 27 through Thursday, July 25 (no lessons on July 4). Session II – July 30-August 22. Classes are held at 10:30, 11, 11:30 and 12 noon.

Cost: $80 for each session (includes 8 half-hour lessons) for children ages 5 and older; $50 for the parent/toddler class for children age 6 mos. through age 4.

Private swim lessons are also available for $160 for eight half-hour sessions.

Registration will be taken from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning June 17.

In some borough neighborhoods, power was not lost through the storm. Those areas that did lose power have seen their service restored.

Any necessary restoration of and repairs to our beach dune system, ADA walkways and ramps and bay front bulkeads will commence immediately. Wildwood Crest will move swiftly to ensure all storm-related issues are addressed prior to the 2013 summer season.

The borough would like to acknowledge and laud the dedicated work of its police department, ambulance corps, public works department and other borough employees and officials in helping to keep the borough safe and secure before, during, and after the storm. DPW is maintaining a daily cleanup effort for storm debris and residents are encouraged to place personal property destroyed by the storm and related debris curbside in sections no greater than four feet in length or width.  As we continue with those cleanup efforts, the Borough of Wildwood Crest’s thoughts and prayers are with the many other shore communities that were greatly affected by this devastating storm event.  For additional information or assistance, please contact public works at (609) 522-7446.
