Crest to host public paper shredding event

The Borough of Wildwood Crest will hold a public shredding event to coincide with the borough-wide yard sale on Saturday, May 6. All Crest residents are encouraged to bring their unwanted documents for shredding to the Department of Public Works yard from 2:30 to 5 p.m. The shredding event will be held rain or shine.

Residents should use the entrance to the public works yard along Bayview Drive between Newark and Jefferson avenues. Residents should park near the entrance and bring their documents to the shredding truck. The borough asks, as a courtesy to all, that residents limit the number of boxes of paper for shredding to five per household. Proof of residency is required.

The borough has contracted with Guardian Document Destruction Company to provide onsite secure shredding for the safe disposal of unwanted documents.

Only paper products will be accepted for shredding. It is permissible to have documents secured with staples and paper clips, but not recommended. Among the items not being accepted for shredding are binders, binder clips, plastic covers and laminated paper. All of the shredded materials will be recycled.

This event is being done on a first-come, first-served basis and until the truck is full.

As usual, the public works facility will be open for weekend trash drop off from 3 to 5 p.m. as well.

For more information regarding this new annual event, call the Wildwood Crest Municipal Clerk’s office at (609) 729-8040 or the Department of Public Works at (609) 522-7446.
