Incumbents sworn in as Wildwood Crest Board of Commissioners reorganizes

Gould and Don Cabrera officially took their oaths of office for their third consecutive terms at the Borough of Wildwood Crest’s Board of Commissioners’ reorganization meeting Friday, Jan. 3 at borough hall.

The three incumbent commissioners ran unopposed in the municipal election held in November 2013 and will serve in the same capacity as in their previous two terms together.

Groon, entering his third consecutive term as commissioner, will again serve as Mayor and Director of Public Affairs and Public Safety.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their support,” Groon said. “I’m really looking forward to the next four years.”

Gould, entering her third consecutive term as commissioner and sixth overall, will again serve as Deputy Mayor and Director of Revenue and Finance. Gould previously served as borough commissioner from 1989 through 2001.

“I really want to thank my husband (Alan) for all of his support over the years because he’s been my rock,” Gould said. “I’m very happy to serve the borough. I looked out of my window at 3 o’clock this morning and I saw our public works trucks go by (in an effort to clear snow during a storm) and I was really proud to see that. I think this town is in really great shape.”

Cabrera is entering his fourth consecutive term as commissioner. He once again will serve as Director of Public Works, Recreation, Parks and Public Property.

“I’d like to thank the people of the borough for electing me to a fourth consecutive term,” Cabrera said. “It is an honor and a pleasure to serve the people of the Borough of Wildwood Crest. And I’m very happy to lead the public works and recreation departments because I think they are the backbone of this great community.”

Groon, Gould and Cabrera are scheduled to serve through December 2017.
