Wildwood Crest Cornhole Tournament July 27

WILDWOOD CREST – Looking for some extra fun in the sun while enjoying a day at the beach?

Register now for the Borough of Wildwood Crest Recreation Department’s second annual Cornhole Tournament, scheduled for Saturday, July 27 at the Heather Road Beach, in the shadows of the Wildwood Crest Beach Pier. Competition begins at 10 a.m., with day-of-event registration starting at 9 a.m.

The event is open to players of all ages. Registration fee is $30 per team of two players. Players of all ages can participate.

Cornhole, also known as beach baggo, is a horseshoes-type game in which players toss small one-pound bags filled with corn or other filler toward 2×4 wooden boards placed 27 feet apart in the sand. The boards contain a six-inch hole centered nine inches from the back and 12 inches from either side. Maximum points are scored by tossing a bag into the hole. Points can also be scored by landing a bag safely onto the board. Cornhole matches are played to 21 points. All teams are guaranteed at least two matches.

All equipment will be provided by tournament organizers. There is no dress code to play.

Event T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 15 registered teams and will be given as supplies last to other participating teams. First prize of the tournament will include a new cornhole set. Other prizes will also be awarded.

Registration forms can be obtained in person at the Crest Pier Recreation Center, located at Heather Road and Ocean Avenue. For more information, call (609) 523-0202.
