The Soft Parade, perhaps the most well-known Doors tribute band in the world, will perform for the first time at the Wildwood Crest Summer Music Series. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
Formed more than 20 years ago, The Soft Parade is billed as “the premier Doors tribute show,” according to the band’s website. The band “recreates, with stunning accuracy, the primal, poetic atmosphere of a vintage Doors concert.”
Taking its name from the Doors fourth studio album released in 1969, The Soft Parade has appeared in different venues all across the country and has toured 20 countries during its 23-year career. The band has even been joined onstage by original Doors guitarist Robby Krieger.
The Soft Parade is led by vocalist Joe Russo, who, in addition to his stunning singing voice, bears an uncanny physical resemblance to famous Doors front man Jim Morrison.
The Soft Parade does its best to relive the legendary Doors concerts performed over 30 years ago. The Soft Parade is one of the most authentic, realistic tribute bands working today. From the vintage musical instruments and sound equipment right down to stage clothing and hairstyles – experiencing a show by The Soft Parade is as close to seeing the Doors as anyone can possibly get.
Saturday’s event is a free all-ages show. Attendees should bring a blanket or a chair.
Centennial Park is located at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue.
